The Science of Color and Light at RLVNT

At RLVNT, we are constantly toying with the color and contrast of light through lenses to bring the best visual experience possible to outdoor enthusiasts.

We start with the color that is available and the color you want to see more or less of. We then manipulate that light — and consequently the color — to give you the best possible visual experience.

Manipulating color like this is similar to paint mixing. We are subtractively (removing colors or turning down colors) changing what colors you have available to see. For example:

If we remove reds, you will see greens and blues better.

Sunfire Coating

For the gold coating, which our community named Sunfire, we wanted to push further on the red end of the light spectrum.

Our red lenses are strong, but they don’t affect the yellow range and do little to orange.
With Sunfire, we targeted all three — red, yellow, and orange.
The result is a boost to blues, violets, and greens, delivering vivid contrast and a more relaxed visual experience in the right circumstances.
